Our model is whole‑family, trauma‑informed, and community‑driven. Summary The School‑Based Behavioral Health Liaison (SBBHL) promotes mental health and wellness among students. The SBBHL supports schools in implementing trauma‑informed practices and behavioral health interventions for students at risk of developing emotional, behavioral, or substance use disorders. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, teacher consultation, and fostering strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community. Responsibilities Provide individual, family, and group counseling to students with emotional or behavioral challenges. Conduct mental health assessments, screenings, and evaluations; facilitate psycho‑educational groups on coping strategies, stress management, and mental health awareness. Offer crisis intervention and make referrals for additional supports as needed. Consult with teachers to create trauma‑informed, positive classroom environments. Deliver training and education on mental health issues, trauma‑informed practices, substance abuse prevention, and de‑escalation strategies. Assist in developing school‑wide mental health initiatives and universal prevention strategies. Act as a liaison between schools, families, and community agencies to ensure coordinated care. Facilitate communication among teachers and families to support students’ behavioral and mental health needs. Participate in school meetings such as IEP or 504 planning to advocate for students’ mental health services. Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and reports, to comply with grant and organizational requirements. Monitor service outcomes and ensure alignment with state regulations and program standards. Collaborate with school personnel and community providers to complete needs assessments and resource mapping. Participate in school‑wide trauma‑informed initiatives and other mental health‑related programs. Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred (LCSW, LPC, etc.). Minimum two years of experience working with children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting, preferably in a school environment. Other Skills and Abilities Proficiency in trauma‑informed practices. Ability to provide strength‑based and client‑centered care. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with school staff, students, and families. Physical Demands The job requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, bending, or crouching may be required. Mental abilities include continuous concentration, the ability to remember multiple tasks, oral and written communication, and an attention span of one hour or more on a task.
