Senior Maintenance Manager

We are hiring for a Sr. Manager of Maintenance in Sioux City, Iowa. This is a full-time, exempt leadership opportunity offering a competitive base salary, plus a 20% annual bonus. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. The position follows a day shift (Monday–Friday) schedule, with weekend availability required as needed based on business requirements. We are seeking candidates with proven maintenance leadership experience in pork processing plants. Position Summary The Senior Manager – Maintenance & Engineerin g is responsible for leading all maintenance and engineering operations for a large-scale pork processing facility. This role provides strategic leadership for preventive and corrective maintenance, capital projects, facility improvements, automation initiatives, and equipment reliability. The Senior Manager oversees a team of 200+ maintenance and engineering professionals, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations while maintaining compliance with OSHA, USDA/FSIS, EPA, and food safety regulations. Requirements: Lead and develop a maintenance and engineering team consisting of 200+ employees and 6 direct reports. Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Manage capital projects, facility expansions, equipment upgrades, and automation initiatives. Develop maintenance strategies aligned with business goals and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage maintenance budgets and capital expenditures. Utilize data and analytics to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA/FSIS, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Collaborate with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to support plant operations. Oversee facility utilities including ammonia refrigeration, wastewater treatment, steam generation, rendering, distribution, and automation systems. Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and workforce development. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 8+ years of maintenance management experience with demonstrated leadership of large maintenance teams. 5–8 years of experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration and freezer systems. Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, and long-term maintenance strategies. Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and automation preferred. Experience in food manufacturing, meat processing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA, USDA/FSIS, EPA, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
