Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our growing commercial construction team in Asheville, North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with at least 2 years of commercial construction experience who is looking to advance their career while working on high-quality projects.

The Assistant Project Manager will support all phases of construction projects—from preconstruction through project completion—by assisting with scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, documentation, quality control, and client communication.

Experience with healthcare, K-12, or higher education construction projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager throughout all phases of commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Support project scheduling, planning, and budget tracking.
• Monitor project progress and help resolve scheduling or operational issues.
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Support project quality control and safety compliance.
• Assist with project closeout activities and final documentation.
• Build strong working relationships with project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial construction experience .
• Experience with healthcare, K-12, or higher education construction projects is a plus.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and schedules.
• Knowledge of Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project delivery is preferred.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to grow professionally.
