HVAC Technician – Facilities Team Indian River State College is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to maintain and repair campus HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role involves work on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and various HVAC components while performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements Proven documented work experience in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience with HVAC components such as chillers, digital and pneumatic controls, motor controls and speed drives, cooling towers, chilled water loop systems and chemical treatment, chilled and hot water pumps, ice machines, coolers and refrigeration equipment, hot water boilers, air compressors, and basic electrical service and wiring. EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively; self‑motivated and adaptable under stress. Knowledge of safe use of maintenance tools and equipment. Valid Florida driver’s license. Associate’s degree or a two‑year trade/technical school specializing in HVAC (preferred). Five (5) years of recent documented HVAC experience (preferred). Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Complete HVAC system maintenance and repairs. Maintain service records for all work performed. Assist with other maintenance jobs as required by college activities and priorities. Follow safe work procedures and local regulations. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Change filters, calibrate thermostats, replace motors, pumps and compressors. Repair grills, ducts, belts, pulleys, air control components, and electrical components. Perform routine and preventive maintenance and troubleshoot HVAC malfunctions. Diagnose and replace failing mechanical components. Evaluate ventilation efficiency and propose improvements. Complete all additional duties as assigned; weekend hours may be required. Physical Requirements Work in confined spaces, stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, reach, and stoop. Lift up to 50 pounds and use ladders and other equipment. Manual dexterity for operating office machines such as copier, fax, calculator, and telephone. Follow proper safety standards at all times. Compensation Pay range: $20.68 to $23.00 per hour.
