ICU RN

The Level 3 ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized critical care nursing to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role requires expertise in managing complex trauma cases, advanced monitoring devices, and multiple medication drips while adhering to strict isolation and critical care protocols. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care, perform assessments, and utilize electronic medical records efficiently. A minimum of three years ICU experience and current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including trauma and hypothermia treatment cases.
• Perform patient assessments using CAM, CPOT, and RASS tools.
• Manage patients with external ventricular drains (EVD), multiple medication drips, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices such as Hemosphere Flotrac.
• Care for patients with pleurevac chest tube drainage and utilize PCA pumps.
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions, hand hygiene protocols, and hospital standard operating procedures.
• Document patient care accurately using Allscript Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Float to Surgical ICU (SICU) and Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU) as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.

• Current New York State RN license or by reciprocity.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Minimum of 3 years ICU nursing experience.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Proficiency in managing critical care equipment and patient monitoring devices.
• Strong knowledge of ICU protocols and infection control practices.

• Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• Experience with Allscript EMR system.
• De-escalation certification.

• Must follow strict isolation precautions and infection control measures including hand hygiene.
• Required to float to SICU and IMCU units as needed.
• Compliance with hospital Standard Operating Procedures and critical care practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment.

• Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Minimum guaranteed 35 hours per week.
• Work every other weekend and holidays as needed, with regular overtime and holiday pay.
