Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference in the lives of students as an onsite Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for a contract assignment running from August 10, 2026, to June 4, 2027. This engaging opportunity places you in an in-person role, supporting students across multiple school sites in the Hayward area. You’ll join a dedicated educational community and play a vital part in fostering communication, growth, and inclusivity for learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching certification or license in California
- Experience working in California schools is highly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability for itinerant work across multiple school sites
- Excellent communication abilities, both interpersonal and written
- Commitment to in-person instruction (virtual/VOCO models are not an option for this role)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized education and direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop, monitor, and adjust IEP goals, collaborating closely with general education staff, families, and student support teams
- Travel between school locations to meet with students and staff as needed (itinerant model)
- Advocate for student needs, ensuring access to the core curriculum and school community
- Maintain accurate documentation and timely communication with stakeholders
