School Occupational Therapist

As a school-based Occupational Therapist in Aurora, IL your days will Include:

• Providing therapy services to elementary age students in a resource setting
• Evaluate students' fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, self-care, and functional skills to determine eligibility for occupational therapy services.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and provide direct occupational therapy services in accordance with students' IEP goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, families, and related service providers to support students' participation and success in the educational environment.
• Recommend and implement adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and classroom strategies to improve student access and independence.
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and adjust interventions based on data and ongoing assessments.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and evaluations by providing clinical expertise and recommendations regarding occupational therapy services.
• Educate school staff and caregivers on therapeutic strategies that promote student engagement, functional independence, and academic participation.

Job Details

• Position: Contract (option to renew for the following school year) in a therapeutic day school setting
• Hours: 30 hours per week, 4 days/week
• Caseload: Elementary age
• Start/end date: 8/3/2026 - 5/28/2027

Successful Candidates Possess

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)-accredited program.
• Current, active Illinois Occupational Therapist license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Current certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) (or eligibility to obtain certification if newly graduated, as required for Illinois licensure).
• Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy practices, school-based service delivery models, IDEA, IEP development, and special education regulations.
• Experience working with children in school, pediatric, or clinical settings is preferred; experience supporting students with autism, developmental delays, orthopedic impairments, and sensory processing needs is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and district onboarding requirements
• The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
