Thompson Physician Corps (three years of service). • Up to $75,000 for the National Health Service Corps (two years of service, or full student loan repayment for qualifying sites). • 5% differential pay for ABPN Board Certification. Role Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and mental status examinations of adult and/or child and adolescent patients. Provide multi‑axial diagnoses according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Develop and implement individualized mental health treatment plans. Provide competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric interventions to meet patients’ needs. Lead subordinate psychiatrists and oversee lower‑level staff such as clinical therapists, nurse practitioners and case managers. Assign and review work, train staff, provide feedback, assist with performance evaluations, and participate in hiring and disciplinary actions. Perform related tasks as required. Benefits and Compensation • Loan repayment: up to $105,000 (Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps) or $75,000 (NHSC). Conditions of Employment Pre‑employment process includes background investigation, fingerprinting, medical exam, drug and/or TB testing. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Official offer cannot be made until residency completion is verified. Teaching requirement: supervise or teach medical learners. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited medical school. Residency: Completion of an ACGME‑approved psychiatry residency. Certificate of completion must be submitted. License: Valid Physician and Surgeons certificate from the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. DEA Certificate: Valid DEA certificate required. Experience: One year of full‑time experience in a lead capacity as a licensed psychiatrist within a public or private behavioral health or healthcare organization. Preferred: Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Languages: Fluency in ASL, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, or Vietnamese is strongly encouraged; additional compensation may be provided for bilingual positions. Strong communication skills; experience collaborating in multidisciplinary treatment teams; proven leadership of teams of psychiatrists working with seriously mentally ill populations, eating disorders, underserved, and forensic populations.
