Home Care Aide-C.N.A. Part-time

Bay Aging is seeking part-time Home Care C.N.A. Aides for Colonial Beach, VA. Eligible for sign on bonus of $500 after 200 hours completed. Employee referral bonus $250*. Deliver in-home care services to Bay Aging clients so they can live safely in the community. Provide personal care, health and safety monitoring and light housekeeping. Introduce and coach new Personal Care Aides in the field. Perform administrative work in the office to complete a full-time schedule every week. Report to the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor.

Essential functions include: assisting with activities of daily living, providing assistance with special maintenance, performing independent activities of daily living, providing assistance with errands outside the home, monitoring home environment for health and safety, and communication and training.

Decision making involves performing a limited number of routine tasks prescribed by clients' care plan, working independently throughout the day, and reporting to supervisor any change in the client's environment, physical or mental condition.

Knowledge required includes HIPAA regulations, adult care practice and procedures, Bay Aging policies and procedures related to Home Care, and knowledge of medical equipment on usage and basic maintenance.

Abilities include speaking, reading and writing English, establishing and maintaining good relationships with clients and their families, communicating effectively with older adults suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease, being considerate of care recipients and holding their personal information as confidential, being observant of changes in client's condition or environment, and ability to stand, bend, stoop, pull, push wheelchairs and lift up to 25lbs unassisted.

The work is performed in the client's home and in public areas. It requires repeated standing, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting of weights up to 25lbs unassisted. Regular night, weekend and holiday work required on a regular basis. None of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually away from the assigned places of work.

Qualifications include being 18 years of age, maintaining licensure as a CNA issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing, providing proof of current PPD vaccination or completing a Tuberculosis screening, and becoming certified in CPR. This is a non-exempt position.
