Communications Coordinator

Based in Burbank, CA

IATSE Local 871 is a local craft Union currently representing ~ 3,000 members in the Los Angeles film, television, and sports arena industries. 

We represent a diverse group of Crafts including Script Supervisors, Teleprompter Operators, Art Department Coordinators, Production Coordinators, Assistant Production Coordinators, Production Accountants, Script Coordinators, Writers’ Room Assistants, and various Sports Broadcast Crafts. 

IATSE Local 871 is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Communications Coordinator who can seamlessly disseminate the Union’s messaging to our members across multiple platforms. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Implement & execute all online communications including e-blasts, text banking campaigns, and social media.
• Update the IA Local 871 website as needed
• Manage the backend Zoom operations for General Membership Meetings and other meetings as needed
• Design and distribute quarterly newsletters
• Design and conduct online surveys using surveying platform (Survey Monkey)
• Designing fact sheets, flyers, and campaign graphics
• Create video content for social media and for some meetings as needed
• Support the organizing campaigns as needed
• Help with research for presentations, meetings, and negotiations

Qualifications & Competencies:

• At least 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, policy advocacy, or related fields in positions of similar responsibilities and project management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent graphic design skills with experience working in Adobe Creative Suite applications
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
• Proficiency in working with database systems and DNN website content management 
• Experience running Zoom meetings for large audiences  
• Experience with Action Network a plus
• High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to self-manage and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to occasionally work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Work Requirements:

• This is an in-office position
• Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM
• This position is represented by OPEIU Local 537. Membership is required after 90-day probationary period.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $35.05/hr (3.5% wage increase slated for 2027 and 2028, respectively)
• Overtime Eligible
• Employer-paid health insurance with no premium
• Employer-funded pension plan
• Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays as outlined in the OPEIU Local 537 Agreement
