Job Description

This role involves working on a first-shift general production line to assemble flooring and drop ceiling products using hand tools and measuring devices. You will follow detailed work instructions, use a tape measure to ensure accurate assembly, and participate in team lifting of materials, occasionally lifting up to 30–35 lbs individually. Once fully trained and hired on, you will have the opportunity to learn and operate various production machinery within different departments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble flooring and drop ceiling components by following written work instructions and using hand tools and a tape measure to ensure accurate measurements.
• Inspect panels, tiles, and parts to verify they meet quality specifications while maintaining established production rates.
• Read and follow Manufacturing Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures without deviation unless properly approved.
• Complete production reporting and quality documentation accurately and on time as required.
• Use banding equipment and hand-jacks to move, secure, and store products and materials safely and efficiently.
• Place materials such as panels or tiles into machines or onto conveyors in the prescribed manner and sequence to maintain a smooth flow of operations.
• Perform trimming, indexing, and cutting procedures as needed to meet product specifications.
• Monitor equipment operations and keep supervisors informed of any problems or equipment that is not operating properly.
• Learn and develop a working knowledge of all equipment and machinery within the Understructure department.
• Position parts correctly on equipment and monitor operations to produce products at established production standards.
• Perform minor equipment setups, including changing plate sizes and setting up for various tube and stud sizes.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area and follow established safety procedures at all times.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions, including the Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures, Manufacturing Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and Safety Manual.
• Maintain awareness of your individual contribution to quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance activities.
• Report all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Work near moving mechanical parts while using hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment, and components safely.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repetitively without assistance during an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift in a production environment.
• Ability to use hand tools and basic measuring instruments such as tape measures.
• Comfort working near moving mechanical parts and using hands and fingers to handle machinery, equipment, or parts.
• Experience performing general labor, production, and assembly tasks using hand and power tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and feeler gauges is a plus.
• Previous experience with machine operation in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus.
• Ability to learn and operate multiple types of production machinery within different departments.
• Strong attention to detail for inspecting parts and completing production and quality paperwork accurately.

Work Environment

The work takes place in two primary facilities. The annex is a very clean, modern, and loud environment with approximately 15 employees working on the floor at a time, focusing on specialized containment door assemblies. The main facility is an older, larger plant with about 40–60 employees per shift and a similarly loud production setting. You will work on a 3rd shift schedule from 10:00 p.m. to 6:20 a.m., typically with 1–2 hours of overtime per day. The role requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching for most of the shift while working near moving mechanical parts and using various tools and equipment. The dress code includes long pants (no sweatpants), shirts with at least short sleeves (no sleeveless tops), and steel-toe shoes. Metatarsal protection is required, and met-guards are provided to strap over steel-toe footwear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Red Lion, PA.

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr.
