Job Summary Under the direction of the SC Child Care Resource & Referral (SC CCR &R) Community Engagement Manager and in conjunction with the Communications Coordinator, the Outreach Specialist is a field‑based role based in Richland County that promotes SC CCR &R services statewide through outreach activities such as trainings, conferences, community events, and meetings. Responsibilities Coordinate and implement marketing and promotion of SC CCR &R services to families, child care providers, organizations, employers, and the community. Collaborate with Outreach and Communication team members and management to develop outreach plans and strategies. Plan, travel to, and manage outreach and professional development events, both in‑person and virtually. Assist in the distribution and inventory of marketing materials (brochures, flyers, etc.). Develop professional partnerships with community partners statewide to strengthen relationships and promote SC CCR &R services. Maintain data files of all outreach events and develop reports for Program Director/PI. Maintain knowledge of field, program, and statewide initiatives related to high‑quality child care and communicate information to staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job‑related field and at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, education, business, or related field. At least 2 years of experience in training, outreach, marketing, event planning, administration, logistics, or development. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of marketing and outreach strategies, public speaking, strong organizational and time‑management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web‑based applications. Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel throughout the state with reliable transportation. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Position Attributes Field‑based; requires driving to various locations statewide. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Job is a 12‑month research grant position, full‑time (37.5 hours per week). Benefits UofSC offers a benefits package including health and life insurance, paid leave, and retirement programs.
