Emergency Department Technician, Adult ED, 36 hours, Days

Position Summary As an Emergency Department Technician at Boston Medical Center, you will be a key member of the healthcare team in our Emergency Department (ED). Under the direction and supervision of registered nurses and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, you will provide direct clinical and support services. You will participate in patient‑centered care for patients and their families and work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to meet patient, family, and staff needs. Job Responsibilities Perform a variety of delegated patient‑care interventions for patients in the ED and their families, including vital sign assessments, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support. Carry out environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and properly equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED by supporting quality patient and family outcomes. Job Requirements A high‑school diploma or GED certificate. Effective communication in English with staff and patients. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Physical ability to meet job responsibilities. Basic math and computer proficiency. At least one year of direct patient‑care experience. Either (a) currently enrolled in a nursing program and completed two cycles of clinical rotation, (b) completed an approved Emergency Medical Technician training program, (c) completed an approved Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Medical Assistant training program, or (d) worked for at least one year in one of those roles.
