Construction Estimator

The Estimator serves as a critical contributor to preconstruction strategy, responsible for leading the development of accurate, comprehensive cost estimates that inform project planning and execution. This role provides analytical oversight of project scope, financial forecasting, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with budgetary objectives and organizational priorities. The Estimator collaborates cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive informed decision-making, optimize cost efficiency, and support successful project delivery.

• Reviews project plans, specifications, and related documentation to define scope and requirements.
• Identifies and quantifies materials, labor, equipment, and resources required for construction projects.
• Conducts site visits and assessments to inform accurate and complete cost evaluations.
• Prepares detailed cost estimates using industry-standard estimating tools and software.
• Analyzes historical data, market conditions, and industry benchmarks to determine cost drivers.
• Develops comprehensive cost breakdowns including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
• Solicits, evaluates, and negotiates quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to support procurement efficiency.
• Partners with project and preconstruction teams to develop and refine project budgets.
• Provides recommendations on cost planning, resource allocation, and budget adjustments.
• Monitors and tracks estimate changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifies cost-saving opportunities and leads value engineering initiatives.
• Collaborates with design and engineering teams to evaluate alternative materials and methods.
• Assesses feasibility and financial impact of design and construction alternatives.
• Prepares bid packages and formal proposals in response to client requests.
• Ensures accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness of all bid submissions.
• Participates in client presentations and bid negotiations as required.
• Performs additional responsibilities as needed to support project and organizational objectives.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent relevant experience required.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator are preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification strongly preferred, with requirement to obtain within the first 12 months if not already held.
• Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience within a general contracting environment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform conceptual estimating and develop preliminary project schedules preferred.
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Experience with construction estimating software, including On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor and subcontractor relationships.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while exercising sound professional judgment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and pre-bid meetings.
