PHYSICAL THERAPIST - LTAC-PRN

Responsibilities Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 60 years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team. Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges. Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Physical Therapist - PRN on LTAC Unit . The Physical Therapist will provide physical therapy (PT) services to patients in an efficient and professional manner. Therapies will be completed in accordance with the patient’s developmental, psychological, and physical level of function, and exemplify ethical conduct as described in the facility mission statement and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) code of ethics. Comply with all Administrative, Clinical, and Human Resources policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Must actively support the mission, philosophy, and goals for the hospital. Must be able to communicate with sensitivity to growth, development, and cultural issues. Provide PT evaluations to patients. Provide PT consultation regarding treatment issues. Complete assigned documentation according to guidelines set forth by the facility and APTA. Provide supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and PT Aides. Maintain professional demeanor in dress, attitude, support of unit milieu, and hospital mission and philosophy. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills, knowledge, and abilities: Thorough knowledge of human anatomy, philosophy, and the effect of treatment procedures on body functions and structure; knowledge of neurodevelopment treatment and motor control; understanding of neurological dysfunction and its effect on motor performance. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; Master’s degree preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Driver’s License or State issued ID; current license or temporary license as an LPT in the State of Texas; Certification in CPR. Experience: BS or equivalent in physical therapy. Master’s degree preferred. Physical/General Requirements: Able to sustain physical activity eight hours a day; remain on feet 8 hours per day; physically restrain patients per policy; lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance; push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills; pursue running patients; transfer patients to and from wheelchairs; confront dangerous or aggressive patients; de-escalate crisis situations; communicate verbally and in writing patient behavior; write legibly and grammatically; use hands repetitively; provide regular and expected attendance; meet hearing and vision requirements; be physically, mentally, emotionally, and legally capable of fulfilling all job components; complete training program.
