Job Summary:
This Medical Surgical Floor nursing position is located in Quincy, Illinois. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role involves working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with heavy patient loads, including managing surgical admits and discharges. The position emphasizes EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience and requires a minimum of two years of surgical nursing experience. The shift consists of three 12-hour days starting at 7:00 AM.

• Required Qualifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; 2 years of surgical experience; current Illinois RN license; experience with EPIC EMR; ability to work 3-12 hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM; minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: EPIC EMR experience, total joint experience, understanding of PCA pumps, use of reversal drugs such as Narcan, sepsis management, experience with TPN and Lipids, narcotic usage, and experience managing patients with complex surgical needs.
• Additional Information: The unit is fast-paced with a high patient volume, including the potential for 8-12 surgery admits per day, along with discharges. The environment may require managing heavy patients with various acute conditions; there is a first-day orientation including computer modules and general orientation, with the first shift lasting 12-14 hours.
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM; schedules are made 6 weeks in advance; every other weekend and holiday rotation with core staff; no call or standby requirements.
• Float: Float to similar units only; if floated to higher acuity units, staff will assist without taking a patient load.
• Dress Code: Scrubs are provided, with a black scrub color.
• Note: The position requires EPIC experience and involves working in a busy, heavy patient environment with frequent surgical admissions.
