Seasonal Arbor Technician

Forest Park Forever is seeking a Seasonal Arbor Technician to perform arboricultural maintenance to ensure trees in the park have the necessary ingredients for growth and longevity. This full-time position reports to work Monday through Friday 7:00am - 3:30 pm from March through November . We are looking for individuals that are reliable, self-motivated, and detail oriented. A successful candidate should be passionate about effectively caring for trees in Forest Park. This position provides the employee a rewarding experience of completing the critical care necessary for the park, as well as experience in a variety of landscapes.

Job Purpose: Perform a wide range of arboricultural maintenance duties including planting, pruning, watering, mulching, weeding, and IPM pest management in Forest Park, within areas maintained by Forest Park Forever.


Essential Job Functions

• Perform tree planting, pruning, monitoring and maintenance
• Operate light equipment, automotive equipment, utility vehicles, power tools and hand tools
• Provide support for Forest Park Forever special events
• Help supervise volunteer groups to accomplish maintenance goals, as requested

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to exert physical effort for extended periods in performing manual labor in extreme temperatures required.
• Ability to frequently move and/or lift up to fifty (50) pounds and carry it a reasonable distance and occasionally lift and/or move more than eighty (80) pounds.
• Applicant must possess the ability to operate an automotive vehicle and light equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to hear, understand and follow oral and written instructions over radio, telephone and in person.
• Experience in arboriculture or related field is a plus.
