Clinical Physician & Health Team Lead (NY)

Duties The incumbent of this position will be part of a multidisciplinary team with responsibilities to include but are not limited to: Oversee medical care provided to patients; obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order medications and procedures; authorize admissions and render admitting diagnoses. Provide individual and group health education and risk reduction counseling. Be available for consultation, direction, and on‑site care on evenings, weekends, and during off hours. Serve as health advisor to the multi‑disciplinary team; provide consultation/peer review to other physicians/clinicians; supervise a nurse practitioner; actively participate in activities intended to improve patient care and facility operations. Assist in patient discharge planning, especially in terms of health care needs, and meet with the patient prior to discharge. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Clinical Physician 1: Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and one year of post‑licensure experience. Clinical Physician 2: Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and two years of post‑licensure medical experience. Medical Specialist 1: Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and successful completion of a residency training program in a medical specialty approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Medical Specialist 2: Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in a medical specialty by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Qualifying post‑licensure medical experience includes general medical experience in a private, clinical, or hospital medical practice, diagnosing and treating illness and injuries, interpreting x‑rays and laboratory tests, conducting physical examinations, and providing basic primary preventative care. This includes but is not limited to internal medicine, family medicine, preventative medicine, or emergency medicine. Salaries Clinical Physician 1: $92,448 plus $20,000 Geographic Pay. Clinical Physician 2: $101,503 plus $20,000 Geographic Pay. Medical Specialist 1: $96,912 plus $25,000 Geographic Pay. Medical Specialist 2: $122,118. Salaries are pro‑rated for part‑time (50%). The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay, Geographic Pay, and Shift Pay differentials. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts. Background Investigation Requirements Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the list as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) if applicable. They will also be investigated through a criminal background check that includes state and federal criminal history record checks. All convictions must be reported; a conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits in accordance with the applicable provisions of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. They may also be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment; if indicated, they may be barred from appointment.
