Real Estate Associate Project Manager
$62.5k - $72kLiberty Community Land Trust
Role: Real Estate Associate Project Manager
Location : Los Angeles, CA (hybrid, with a minimum 3 days/week on-site requirement)
Target Start Date: October 26, 2026
Compensation: $62,500 - 72,000 depending on experience
THE DETAILS SUPPORT THE MISSION
Everyone talks about the vision. The ribbon cuttings, the headlines, the raise that made history. But community ownership doesn't live in headlines. It lives in an escrow file that closed on time. A compliance deadline that didn't slip. A vendor who got an answer the same day. A property record so clean that when the moment comes to move, we move.
Land is won or lost in the details. We're hiring the person who owns them.
This is that opportunity.
We'll be straight with you: this is not a construction-management job on day one. It's the role that makes everything else possible, and it's built to become much more. That's not a consolation. That's the design.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD TOWARD
At Liberty Community Land Trust, we're redefining community empowerment through innovative and collaborative real estate development. We're building a future where community ownership and justice are the cornerstones of an equitable economy.
We're not your typical non-profit. Liberty Community Land Trust stands as land liberators and community-driven real estate developers. Our mission is bold: to establish community control of land, and advance racial, economic, and climate justice through innovation, collaboration, and advocacy. We led the most successful raise for a community-owned real estate project in American history and built a groundbreaking model for community ownership.
And the work ahead is real, resourced, and in motion: an active property portfolio, live acquisitions, and pre-development projects that will take land off the speculative market and put it in community hands - permanently.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
A movement can survive a missed headline. It cannot survive missed closings.
As our Real Estate Associate Project Manager, you are the keeper of the moving parts across our entire real estate operation. The timelines. The files. The follow-through. When title companies, attorneys, lenders, property managers, and city agencies all need something at once, you are the person who makes sure nothing - nothing - falls through the cracks.
You'll work directly with Liberty CLT leadership, with real ownership from day one: your timelines, your files, your vendor relationships, your follow-through. And one commitment we make up front: this role is designed to grow into a full Real Estate Project Manager position, with ownership of complete project cycles from pre-development through close-out. Ask us about that path in interviews. We welcome the question.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
The Rhythm: Project & Administrative Coordination
- Own and maintain project timelines, deliverables, and action items across multiple properties and initiatives
- Support meeting logistics: prepare agendas, decks, project summaries, and follow-up notes for real estate committee and partner meetings
- Partner with Liberty CLT leadership to ensure tasks are clearly assigned and documented, and drive them to completion
- Own the accuracy and accessibility of all property and project files — escrow, title, contracts, and compliance documents
- Manage shared folders and ensure every real estate document is properly labeled, filed, and findable
The Deal: Escrow, Acquisition & Vendor Coordination
- Drive acquisition documentation to completion, coordinating with title and escrow companies, attorneys, and lenders
- Own the tracking and reconciliation of closing items, property filings, and related correspondence
- Assist with insurance renewals, utilities setup, and tax exemption filings
- Own vendor communications, ensuring timely response to maintenance and compliance needs
The Ground: Property Oversight & Site Support
- Coordinate with property managers on maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections
- Conduct or support site visits to monitor conditions and own follow-through on repairs, fencing, security, and anything else the land needs
- Own the central log of vendor and contractor activity, and drive open items to resolution
The Numbers: Budgeting & Financial Support
- Own project expense tracking and reconcile vendor invoices in collaboration with finance staff
- Prepare simple project budgets and assist with early-stage feasibility analysis for new properties
- Gather materials for funders, lenders, and investors, including narrative updates and supporting documentation
The Horizon: Research & Analysis
- Explore emerging ideas, models, and movements in real estate development, community ownership, and economic democracy that can shape Liberty CLT's strategy
- Investigate the funding and financing landscape to surface new and unconventional opportunities for acquiring, developing, and stewarding community-owned real estate
- Distill what you find into concise briefs that turn insight into options and options into action
The Bridge: Stakeholder & Partner Coordination
- Support communication between Liberty CLT, consultants, development partners, and city agencies
- Coordinate logistics for meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and elected officials
- Represent Liberty CLT professionally in community, coalition, and membership spaces — because in this work, trust is the currency
WHO YOU'LL BECOME
Twelve months from now, our real estate operation will feel different because you were here.
Closings will run clean. Files will be airtight. Vendors, partners, and agencies will expect tight-turnarounds. And the projects (acquisitions, rehabs, pre-development) will move with a rhythm they didn't have before you arrived.
You'll be different too. You will have watched deals come together from the inside (the escrow mechanics, the financing structures, the feasibility math) with mentorship built in along the way. This position is intentionally designed to evolve into a full Real Estate Project Manager role, with ownership of complete project cycles from pre-development through close-out. The details you master now become the projects you run next.
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF...
- Mission moves you. Community ownership, racial equity, and inclusive development aren't talking points to you - they're the reason you work.
- You own what you touch. You're organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership: you maintain accurate documentation, juggle multiple priorities, anticipate needs, communicate clearly across teams and partners, and drive tasks to completion without heavy supervision.
- You find the gap before it finds us. You're a proactive problem-solver who spots what's about to slip, proposes the fix, and follows up until it's closed.
- You know this terrain. You bring at least 3 years in real estate, affordable housing, property management, or a related field, and working knowledge of real estate processes - escrow coordination, acquisitions, vendor and contractor management, compliance tracking.
- You have the foundation. A Bachelor's degree in real estate, urban planning, construction management, or a related field; a real estate industry certification; or equivalent relevant experience.
- You're a natural researcher. Curious and resourceful, you dig into unfamiliar topics and synthesize what you find into clear, useful summaries.
- You move between worlds. Comfortable and credible with leadership, consultants, city agencies, property managers, and community partners alike.
- You're built for growth. Adaptable, growth-oriented, and eager to develop deeper real estate and project management skills over time.
- You know these streets matter. Culturally competent and equity-focused, committed to serving and representing the communities most impacted by displacement and disinvestment.
- You're ready for the field. Reliable vehicle, comfort visiting properties and construction job sites, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF...
- You want to run construction projects on day one - that's where this role is headed, not where it starts
- Details feel beneath you, or "close enough" feels close enough
- You need someone else to keep the list
No judgment; those are honest preferences. They're just not this role.
OUR CORE VALUES
- Mission Alignment and Advancement: We are dedicated to our collective goals and the advancement of our community
- Mutual Commitment: We show up for our organization and for each other
- Curiosity and Creativity: We encourage innovative thinking and the exploration of new ideas
- Initiation and Follow-Through: We are proactive in our efforts and committed to seeing projects to completion
- Respect for Confidentiality: We handle sensitive information with care and integrity
THE OFFER
This is a full-time, salaried, non-exempt position offering $62,500 - 72,000 per year, depending on experience, with overtime eligibility in accordance with California law.
You'll also receive:
- Medical coverage and generous paid time off
- Professional development support - workshops, conferences, and community engagement initiatives
- Flexible scheduling and a hybrid arrangement designed for productivity and balance, with a three-day per week onsite requirement
- Mentorship and a defined growth path toward full real estate project management
- A front-row seat to community-owned real estate development that most people only read about

- Submit your resume and cover letter at
