Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist

Responsibilities Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications. Explains and performs the procedure with consideration to the level of understanding and age appropriateness for the patient. Able to assess the patient's pain by interfering with the imaging procedure — makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the body part to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of the test. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment. Performs procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols. Adjust and maintain equipment. Qualifications A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required. Two years of Ultrasound/Vascular experience. American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) — Currently registered — minimal certifications — RDMS abdomen (AB) and vascular (RVT). Current BCLS certification. High integrity, able to follow procedures. Ability to be a self‑motivated learner, to take initiative in learning the many complex processes. Exhibits professionalism at all times, understands appropriate workplace behavior/communications. Confidentiality a must.
