PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island is currently seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (Dermatology) to join their team. The position supports hospital operations by delivering high‑quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Position Overview The licensed veterinary technician will provide patient care, including animal restraint, blood drawing, catheter placement, laboratory procedures, radiographic positioning, administration of intravenous drugs and anesthetic agents, monitoring of patients, aseptic technique, and assistance during surgery. Responsibilities also include maintaining medical supplies, overseeing triage and discharge, documentation of patient records, client communication, and basic use of veterinary software. Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks Proficiency in animal restraint. Drawing blood and placing jugular and femoral catheters. Laboratory procedures including blood and specimen handling, fecal assays, and urinalysis. Familiarity with radiographic technique and positioning. Administration of intravenous drugs and anesthetic agents. Monitoring of all patients and identification of medical emergencies. Aseptic technique for cleaning, sterilizing, and packing instruments. Assistance in surgery as directed by the veterinarian. Maintaining cleanliness in kennel, prep, and surgery areas. Recording controlled drug logs. Inventory management. Client communication and education. Basic use of veterinary software programs. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or GED. NYS veterinary technician license required; eligibility for licensing accepted. Experience in anesthesia. General knowledge of instruments and supplies. Special Position Requirements/Physical Requirements Ability to restrain animals of all sizes; work with blood, feces, and X‑ray exposure. Preferred Skills (Nice To Have) Special interest and experience with dermatology. Skilled, organized, caring, and motivated to be part of a growing veterinary referral practice. Experience in emergency medicine and private practice. Schedule Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 am to 8 pm. What We Offer Medical, dental, and vision insurance. $33.14—$40.50 USD.
