Laboratory Technician

Laboratory Technician Location: Montgomeryville, PA Overview This position is primarily responsible for the analysis and certification of specialty gases, in compliance with established specifications. The technician performs analysis for specialty gases and finished product testing; assists in scheduling, proper storage, labeling, and shipping of all products; and uses analytical instrumentation to conduct routine production testing and quality control analysis of specialty gas mixtures and pure gases. Responsibilities Analyze and certify specialty gases according to established specifications. Perform analysis for specialty gases and finished product testing. Assist in scheduling product analyses, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and shipping. Conduct routine production testing and quality‑control analysis of specialty gas mixtures and pure gases. Monitor quality compliance with standard operating procedure Manual requirements. Review production records and release products for distribution. Prepare gas analysis certification reports for customer distribution. Coordinate with supervisors regarding delivery schedules, product complaints, and special product requests. Support management with health and safety and ISO quality programs. Monitor lead times and effectively prioritize workloads. Assist in the qualification and maintenance of laboratory standards, including inventory, labeling, documentation, storage, and presentation. Assist with the setup and maintenance of laboratory instruments and maintain maintenance records per SOPs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Chemistry or a related field, or 1–3 years of relevant experience in an industrial environment. Knowledge and understanding of analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, spectroscopy, and statistical methods. Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Ability to coordinate efforts with multiple departments. Aptitude for high‑precision work. Ability to perform the essential functions of the Laboratory Technician. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet laboratory goals. Forklift operator certification and ability to operate forklift equipment. Follow directions, make decisions, and be reliable. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or equivalent software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to coworkers and customers. Problem‑solving skills with limited standardization. Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure, and calculation of rates, ratios, and percentages). Ability to work all shifts and in all weather conditions. Physical Requirements The role requires regular standing, use of hands and arms, speaking or hearing; lifting or moving up to 50 pounds; and clear vision for close, distance, and color tasks.
