Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client. Promote and participate in Safety Programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of welding processes, procedures, techniques, and equipment used in industrial and power plant applications. Knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes, as applicable. Knowledge of welding metallurgy, base metals, filler metals, electrodes, shielding gases, and material compatibility. Knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder qualification requirements. Knowledge of welding symbols, blueprints, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and technical specifications. Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, and other applicable welding codes and standards. Proficient in one or more welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW. Ability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, as qualified. Ability to consistently produce welds that meet code, specification, and quality requirements. Ability to follow hot-work permits, fire-watch requirements, LOTO procedures, and other site safety requirements. Requirements Required Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License Ability to successfully pass required welder qualification tests in accordance with the applicable welding code and approved WPS. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of industrial welding experience, preferably in power generation, utilities, refineries, petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy industry. Previous experience supporting power plant outages, major overhauls, equipment repairs, and capital projects. Experience welding a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, low-alloy steel, and chrome-moly alloys, as applicable. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste. Physical Requirements: MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms. VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man. LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet. RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
