Job Title

Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC / Stepdown)

Contract | Travel | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit serving CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
• Manage epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and IV glucommander protocols
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Monitor and interpret telemetry for a patient population that includes post-operative open heart surgery, thoracic surgery, AAA repair, and medical cardiology diagnoses
• Maintain a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including charge RNs and PCTs
• Float as needed to other stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure applicable to the state of North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown (IMC/PCU) experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Baxter IV pump systems

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience within the past year caring for CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) background
• Experience with CADD epidural pumps
