# Job Opportunity – Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule:

12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in critical neuro care with diverse case mix including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, and post-neurosurgery management
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1, with potential flex to 3:1 during high census periods; average daily census 11-12 patients
• Contract length of 13 weeks available through the end of February
• Epic EMR system with 24 hours of unit orientation (2 days or 2 nights)
• Floating required within facility; no call requirement
• Extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (no exceptions)
• Strong neuro critical care background essential; general ICU experience alone does not qualify
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• North Carolina or Compact RN license
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Required skills: ventilator management, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, isolation precautions/PPE use, and lumbar drain experience
• Preferred: arterial line management experience
• Annual flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
