Take on a pivotal role in leading a dedicated primary care team that serves America's Veterans at our Aberdeen VA Clinic. In this outpatient leadership position, you will integrate clinical practice with medical oversight, influencing the delivery of care for those who have served our nation.

Why This Position is Unique
  • Leadership and Clinical Integration: Function as both a practicing primary care physician and the Medical Director for the primary care service.
  • Consistent Schedule: Enjoy a Monday to Friday routine from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no night shifts or in-house calls, and minimal weekend responsibilities.
  • Outpatient Focus: Work in a community-based clinic setting supported by a robust nursing and administrative team.
  • Meaningful Impact: Enhance quality, accessibility, and patient experience for a panel of Veterans and the healthcare professionals who serve them.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct primary care to a designated group of adult patients, focusing on chronic disease management, preventive care, and acute visits.
  • Act as the physician leader for primary care, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support and mentorship to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other team members within the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) framework.
  • Collaborate with administrative and nursing leaders to enhance access, manage patient panels, improve population health, and elevate the Veteran experience.
  • Engage in performance improvement, credentialing, and policy implementation at the clinic level.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Proven experience in primary care, preferably with prior leadership roles such as chief or lead physician.
  • Excellent communication abilities with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • A strong commitment to Veteran-centered care and a passion for mentoring and coaching fellow clinicians.
  • Eligible for (or currently holding) an active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
