Job Title and Location Job Title: Controller Location: Columbus, Ohio Responsibilities Lead all accounting and financial operations for a well-established law firm with a strong reputation and stable leadership Oversee the firm's general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, trust accounting, and month-end close processes Partner with firm leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses that support strategic decision-making Supervise payroll operations and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and employment regulations Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and streamline financial workflows Collaborate with attorneys and firm leadership to provide meaningful financial reporting and support long-term business objectives Join a collaborative leadership team where your expertise will directly influence the firm's continued success Ideal Candidate Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred) 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, preferably within a law firm or other professional services environment Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes Knowledge of law firm accounting, including trust accounting and partner compensation, is highly desirable Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, implement efficiencies, and strengthen internal controls Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to firm leadership High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information Collaborative leadership style with experience managing and developing accounting staff About the Firm Well-established Ohio law firm Strong reputation and long-standing presence in the legal community Collaborative and supportive culture with exceptional staff longevity Leadership team values innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement Opportunity to work closely with firm executives and influence firm-wide initiatives Stable organization with a commitment to future growth What’s in It for You?
