Job Summary
- Think critically, creatively, and independently to create new and engaging news worthy content in short news bites
- Write brief 200 words or less news post for website correctly and clearly in styles appropriate for the audiences and purpose.
- Demonstrate leadership and Help build team for various news segments
- Critically evaluate own work and that of others for accuracy, clarity, style, and correctness while developing story ideas, tracking issues and events, selecting reporters for coverage, scheduling stories for air, and scheduling time for interviewing, writing and editing.
- Understand and apply the principles of freedom of speech and press and demonstrate an understanding of ethical principles and work ethically to edit news reports that are produced in an effective, timely and responsible manner, and in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness, and diversity
- Critically evaluate own work and that of others to ensures there are news packages and or news casts that maintain award winning quality
- Demonstrate career management and professionalism to build relationships with various members of campus and local communities such as Presidents, VPs and student organizations to help facilitate news stories
- Conduct research and evaluate information to maintain a list of news items that are divided by timeliness, and newsworthiness.
- Develop professional job skills by attending any staff leadership & job skill enhancement training
- Demonstrate professionalism by attending staff meetings and perform functions as deemed appropriate by Operations Manager or Program Director
- Utilize teamwork and leadership to train and mentor staff and volunteers.
- Apply current tools and technologies to assist with station remotes and events

- Adhere to all Policy and Procedures
- Report any and all violations to GM and OM
- All students must have completed all of Core Area F and one or more of the following courses: In house WIT Training Course, COMM 3351-Radio Program Production, COMM-3352 Fundamentals of Television Production, COMM-3353 Fundamentals of Film & Video Production, COMM 4421-Radio Practicum, COMM 4485 ¿ Sports Communication, and COMM-3354 Digital Social Media & Society, COMM 3301 Writing and Reporting for Newspapers, COMM 4450- Broadcast News Writing and Reporting.
- Must be enrolled at UWG in a minimum of 6 credit hours and have a 2.0 GPA.
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Frequently moves Audio/Visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classrooms and events needs
