Position Correction Officer – Noble Correctional Institute (Noble County, Ohio) Responsibilities Maintain control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility. Assure the assigned area is clean, safe, and secure. Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers. Operate automotive vehicles in perimeter security and transport inmates. Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches. Complete required reports and serve on committees. Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security. Use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates when necessary. Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid driver’s license; positions requiring transportation may require a commercial driver’s license. Must successfully pass the Correction Officer Assessment or have completed the assessment within the past 24 months; current DRC employees who are certified as Correction Officers are also eligible. Probationary period of 365 days. Compensation Newly hired Correction Officer will be hired at Step 1 ($24.88 per hour) and move to Step 2 ($25.61 per hour) after six months. Earn an additional $0.60 per hour when working 2nd or 3rd shift. Skills Corrections, communications, criminology/criminal justice, law enforcement, security.
