Travel: Regional job sites; occasional overnight travel depending on project

Position Summary

Haven Services is seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial Construction Electrician capable of working across the full voltage spectrum encountered on modern commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot systems ranging from structured cabling and low-voltage controls, through standard 480/277V and 208/120V power distribution, up to medium-voltage systems rated 15kV. 

This is a hands-on field role for an electrician who can read and interpret construction documents, work productively with minimal supervision, lead less experienced crew members when needed, and maintain an uncompromising standard for safety and code compliance. The role requires versatility — a typical week may include pulling and certifying CAT6, setting and terminating a 480V motor control center, and assisting with terminations and testing on 15kV feeders and switchgear.

Core Responsibilities

Low Voltage & Structured Cabling

• Install, route, dress, and terminate CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A copper structured cabling, including patch panels, jacks, and racks
• Terminate and test to TIA/EIA-568 standards; perform certification testing (permanent link and channel) and document results
• Install and terminate fiber optic backbone where required (fusion/mechanical splicing, connectorization, OTDR/light-loss testing)
• Install low-voltage systems including fire alarm, access control, CCTV, nurse call, BAS/BMS controls, and instrumentation wiring
• Install cable tray, J-hooks, innerduct, sleeves, and firestopping for communications pathways
• Maintain separation from power circuits and manage EMI considerations per code and best practice
• Label, document, and produce as-built records for all low-voltage systems

Commercial & Industrial Power — 600V and Below

• Install  complete raceway systems: EMT, IMC, rigid conduit, PVC, aluminum conduit, flexible conduit, wireways, and cable tray
• Bend conduit accurately by hand and with mechanical/electric benders, including offsets, saddles, kicks, and concentric bends
• Pull, terminate, and torque conductors in 208Y/120V, 240V, 480Y/277V, and 600V systems
• Install and terminate panelboards, switchboards, distribution panels, transformers, disconnects, and busway
• Install and wire motor control centers, VFDs, starters, contactors, control panels, and PLC I/O
• Install lighting systems and controls, including networked and DALI/0-10V dimming systems
• Install and terminate grounding and bonding systems per NEC Article 250
• Set and connect equipment for HVAC, process, and production machinery
• Perform  troubleshooting using multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, phase rotation meters, and thermal imaging

Medium Voltage — Up to 15kV

• Install medium-voltage cable systems (5kV, 8kV, 15kV) in duct bank, cable tray, and direct-burial applications, observing pulling tension and bend radius      limits
• Prepare and install medium-voltage terminations, stress cones, and splice (heat-shrink, cold-shrink, and taped systems) per manufacturer instructions
• Assist with or lead installation of medium-voltage switchgear, load-interrupter switches, pad-mounted and dry-type substation transformers, reclosers, and unit substations
• Perform and support acceptance testing including VLF/hipot testing, insulation resistance, partial discharge, and phasing verification, coordinating with third-party testing agencies per NETA ATS standards
• Apply grounding, shielding, and cable termination practices specific to shielded medium-voltage cable
• Participate in switching operations and energization sequences under an approved switching order
• Support and enforce medium-voltage lockout/tagout, grounding cluster application, and clearance procedures

Safety & Compliance

• Work in strict accordance with NFPA 70E, applying arc flash boundary determination, incident energy awareness, and correct PPE category selection for each task
• Comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart K and all site-specific safety programs
• Execute lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, including group LOTO, complex LOTO, and verification of absence of voltage
• Complete Energized Electrical Work Permits where energized work is unavoidable and authorized
• Perform pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, and daily toolbox talks
• Maintain awareness of and comply with NEC (NFPA 70) requirements applicable to all installed work
• Correctly select, inspect, and use test instruments rated for the voltage class being worked (CAT III/CAT IV as applicable)
• Report  near misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately

Documentation, Coordination & Project Support

• Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, riser diagrams,  panel schedules, control schematics, and specifications
• Perform digital plan markup and coordinate with engineering on RFIs, submittals,  and field changes
• Maintain accurate as-built markups and redlines throughout the project
• Coordinate  work with general contractors and other trades to avoid conflicts and maintain schedule
• Track material needs, verify deliveries, and minimize waste and rework
• Record  daily labor, quantities installed, and progress against schedule
• Mentor apprentices and provide direction to helpers; support crew training  initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician license (or state/municipal equivalent) in good standing or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience
• Documented experience installing and terminating medium-voltage cable and equipment up to 15kV
• Demonstrated  low-voltage/structured cabling experience with CAT6 termination and certification testing
• Current NFPA 70E arc flash / electrical safety training
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 construction certification
• Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) status per employer's electrical safety program, or ability to achieve it
• Proficient in conduit bending, raceway layout, and conductor installation for all  common wiring methods
• Ability to read and work from construction drawings and specifications without close supervision
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening, and site-specific background checks

Preferred Qualifications

• Master Electrician license or equivalent experience
• Completion of a registered apprenticeship program
• BICSI Installer 1 / Installer 2 (Copper and/or Fiber) or manufacturer certification (Panduit, CommScope, Leviton)
• NICET or NFPA fire alarm certification
• Medium-voltage   splicing/termination certification from a manufacturer training program (3M, Raychem/TE, Elastimold)
• NETA-related testing exposure or experience supporting acceptance testing
• Experience with VFDs, PLCs, and industrial process controls
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification
• Confined space entry, aerial lift, forklift, and rigging/signalperson qualifications
• Bluebeam Revu or similar digital markup proficiency
• Experience in occupied or 24/7 industrial facilities requiring phased shutdowns
• Prior foreman or lead responsibility

Performance Expectations

The successful electrician in this role will:

• Complete work that passes inspection the first time, with zero code violations
• Maintain  a clean incident and near-miss record and actively contribute to site safety culture
• Meet  or beat estimated labor hours on assigned scopes
• Produce neat, workmanlike installations that reflect well on the company during owner walkthroughs
• Communicate  schedule risks, drawing conflicts, and material shortages before they  cause delays
• Leave complete and accurate documentation for closeout
