Tool & Die Technician

Anchor Fabrication in LaVergne, Tn is looking for a Tool & Die Technician for our 2nd shift working 2:30 pm-11 pm Monday- Friday, with the ability to work overtime on weekends.The Tool & Die Technician will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.Essential job duties and responsibilities:Repairs, constructs, alters or maintains jigs die, fixtures, gauges machine components and other tooling in conjunction with the Engineering departmentSets up and operates equipment such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to machine parts and prototypes. Verifies conformance of machined parts to drawings and specificationsProvides technical assistance to other Tool & Die Makers, Machinist and Press personnel on more difficult operations and set-upsWorks with Engineering to repair process machines and tool diesWork with Engineering to repair and maintain specialized machines and hand tools used to meet production requirementsStudies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes the product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate partsComputes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machiningSets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specificationsVerifies dimensions, alignments, and clearancesExamines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of partDevelops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of productMechanically adeptAttention to detailAble to prioritize and work under schedule demandsGood communication skillsComputer literateAble to read all precision measuring instrumentsAbility to read and interpret specificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEA high school diploma or equivalent, along with:Three (3) to five (5) years Tool & Die experienceJourneyman’s card preferredAnchor Fabrication is an equal opportunity employer.
