Speech Pathologist

In accordance with the SEA CBA. 8/7/2024. Staffing for all positions is contingent upon student enrollment and funding availability.

Position: 1.0 Speech Pathologist Reports To: ISSN Director and Building Principal (assigned to the Bussey Early Childhood Center)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License
• American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Certification status of CCC-SLP)
• Experience working with infants, preschoolers and high school students
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Speech & Language Impairment (SB) K-12 endorsement acceptable.

Position Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person will also be responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with SPS policies, goals and objectives.

Please Note: This selected candidate for this position may be required to work some days during the summer.

Position Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate and provide direct/consultation speech support to students with a variety of disabilities and age ranges.
• Provide a thorough assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan for speech and language impaired students as aligned with IDEA and MARSE.
• Provide appropriate individualized services as developed in the student's Individual Education Plan.
• Collaborate with the IEPT and general educators with the development of the IEP and classroom accommodations.
• Maintain collaborative communication with parents, staff and administrators.
• Maintain caseload records and logs to document services and students' progress.
• Medicaid billing
• Prepare the necessary evaluation reports.
• Assume the responsibility for professional development.
• Serve as a resource to the assigned building and district.
• Assist with appropriate referrals to community agencies.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school personnel with the implementation of appropriate accommodations.
• Collaborate with the ISD in regards to communication alternatives for students.
