Assistant Director of Facilities-Custodial Services

Mount Mercy University is seeking a dedicated and skilled custodial services leader that can supervise, direct, and manage
a team of custodians across our campus. As a vital part of our Facilities Management Team, you'll be responsible for
maintaining the physical plant's cleanliness, with a staff that works 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift to maintain this beautiful campus.
This position sets staff goals, monitors work flows and orders, sets schedules and ensures that the campus' many buildings
and residential spaces are clean, stocked, and handled with constant care to ensure the community here has a clean, safe
and smooth-running operation. This position is responsible for their custodial staff cleaning residential, commercial,
athletic and classroom settings, with the flexibility to assist in any part of campus indoors or outdoors as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Establish and enforce cleaning standards, procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Prepare spaces for events, classes, and special activities.
• Oversee emergency response and cleanup for incidents (e.g., leaks, spills, damage).
• Maintain accurate records for work performed, including inventory and equipment reports.
• Lift/move up to 50 lbs independently; heavier lifting with assistance.
• Work may involve standing, walking, crawling, stooping, and other physical activity.
• Maintain proper documentation for cleaning procedures, safety practices, and inspections.
• Promote a culture of safety among staff and volunteers.
• Serve as the primary custodial liaison for campus leadership, departments, and external vendors.
• Address concerns, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain strong relationships with campus partners.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of custodial operations, cleaning methods, and safety standards.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals to achieve a common goal
• Commitment to quality, safety, and service excellence.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Custodial Experience of 5 plus years
• Custodial Management or Supervision for 2-3 years
• Ability to utilize and maintain various floor and carpet care machines
• Physically capable of performing all essential job functions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to be on-call and occasionally work evenings or weekends.
