About the Role

The Tasting Room Lead is an ambassador all guest interactions through pouring and selling wines, hosting tastings, guiding tours and welcoming all visitors. The Tasting Room Lead will act as shift supervisor to lead by example and direct daily activities of Hospitality Associates in partnership with the Assistant Hospitality Manager.

Key Responsibilities
* Help achieve or exceed DTC financial goals
* Follow inventory controls to minimize monthly loss and expense
* Greet guests and answer questions about wines, merchandise, history, and facilities
* Host tastings that reflect the Sterling Vineyards brand and drive sales and loyalty
* Process POS transactions accurately
* Report tips and gratuities accurately
* Open, close, and operate cash registers
* Build and maintain long-term guest relationships
* Serve as a host for VIP guests
* Maintain guest service standards
* Educate guests on winemaking and winery history
* Promote wine club membership to increase sales and loyalty
* Engage guests, resolve service issues, and identify opportunities for improvement
* Set up and host tastings and tours
* Pour wines and educate guests with enthusiasm
* Audit tours and tastings to ensure quality standards are met
* Follow GAMES and Hospitality Academy standards
* Partner with the Wine Club Ambassador to deliver exceptional wine club experiences
* Support special events as a brand ambassador
* Serve as a resource on wines, vintages, production, availability, and awards
* Collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional guest experiences
* Drive WISE sales and service results
* Participate in TWE training programs
* Provide backup support for tastings and tours
* Train hospitality staff to deliver financial and guest experience goals
* Foster a culture of excellence across the team
* Stay active in the local wine community
* Stock, organize, and maintain a clean work environment
* Manage team breaks and lunches during shifts
* Ensure compliance with TWE Zero Harm and Health & Safety standards
* Partner with maintenance to keep guest areas, grounds, and facilities presentation-ready

About You

* Minimum of 2 years' wine sales, restaurant and/or hospitality service experience
* Self-motivated, highly organized, and require minimal day-to-day direction
* Can effectively communicate with all levels of employees and consumers
* Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays
* Strong knowledge of the Napa Valley area, food and wine market
* Basic understanding of wine and winemaking
* Able to travel on occasion to other Company locations
* Able to lift 40 pounds
* At least 21 years of age
* Clean professional appearance

Pay Transparency Disclosure:
Base pay: Hourly rate ranges from $25.00 to $27:00 per hour, based on experience, skills, role scope, location, and business needs.
Incentive pay: Eligible to participate in the Direct-to-Consumer Sales Incentive Plan (DSIP), offering variable compensation based on site performance. Incentive pay is not guaranteed.
Estimated on-target earnings: $27.50 to $29.70 per hour, based on base pay plus target DSIP at target performance (where applicable). Actual earnings vary based on site performance, hours worked, and role classification.
Tips: Tips are paid by customers and vary by location, shift, and customer volume. Tips are not guaranteed. Based on historical experience in some locations/shifts, tips have at times added approximately 21% above base pay for some employees.
