Respiratory Therapist (RT) - PT

Pay Range: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour; Depending on experience (negotiable) Work shift: Per Diem only, Variable shifts for Day, Evening and Weekends Benefits: Sick leave Responsibilities Receive and follow schedule/instructions from supervisor and as outlined in established policies and procedures. Adhere to established policies and procedures of the facility to which the respiratory care practitioner is assigned. Perform focused interview to identify specific patients’ needs. Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from health care members and document actual and/or potential diagnoses. Plan for outcomes of care for those patients assigned. Perform interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard. Adhere to emergency, safety, and infection control procedures of the facility to which the respiratory care practitioner is assigned. Promote and participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications. Report changes in the patient’s respiratory status to the Director/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the nurse primarily responsible for the patient, and the physician, as needed, and prior to leaving the facility. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartment personnel, as well as other departments within the facility. Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of this position. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisor responsibilities. Qualifications Education: Associate Degree from an accredited school; Graduate of a respiratory care program; Bachelor of Science in health care field preferred. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year respiratory experience in an acute and/or subacute unit preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current Respiratory Care Practitioner verification license for the state in which he/she practices (if applicable). Hold current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications. Knowledge of office machines and equipment. Physical Demands Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Prolonged use of desk top or laptop computer. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk, read or hear. Frequent use of all office–related equipment: copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
