Endoscopy Technician

Job Description Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Endoscopy Technician I (ETI) supports basic, diagnostic and/or therapeutic endoscopic procedures at rural, community, large and trauma facilities. This entry‑level role ensures safe and effective care during procedures such as Colonoscopy, Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Tracheostomy/Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Placement, Enteroscopy, basic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT), Food Impaction Removal, Bravo Capsule Placement, and EndoFLIP. Interventions may include polypectomy, biopsy, dilation, cauterization, variceal banding, stent placement, overtube use, foreign body removal, and Hemospray application for GI bleeding. Scheduling Details PRN/As Needed. Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts. On‑call rotating requirements, including weeknights and weekends. Essential Functions Perform all aspects of patient care for entry‑level, diagnostic, and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, adhering strictly to safety protocols and organizational policies. Assemble, prepare, and set up equipment and supplies according to procedure type and provider‑specific requirements; accurately navigate ProVation for image capture and documentation. Assist with procedure room turnover and ensure emergent equipment is either sent to sterile processing or appropriately reprocessed in‑room for subsequent use. Maintain procedural safety by managing supplies and equipment and ensuring proper handling and safeguarding of tissue and specimen samples. Responsible for sharps and specimen safety; actively participate in time‑outs and all safety protocols, consistently applying Zero Harm error prevention techniques. Practice strict infection prevention and high‑level disinfection standards, including point‑of‑use cleaning; may assist with sterile processing of instruments and scopes per manufacturer guidelines. Operate specialized equipment and mobile towers proficiently in various procedural settings, including ICU and OR. Anticipate the needs of the provider, RN, and patient, demonstrating initiative and responsiveness within the scope of endoscopy technician practice. Prepare equipment and supplies urgently and efficiently for emergent procedures and assist with post‑procedure room clean‑up. Transport inpatients safely and efficiently to and from multiple departments throughout the facility. Skills Endoscopic Procedure Support Room Turnover Patient Care & Safety Infection Prevention & Control Sterile Processing & High‑Level Disinfection Specimen Handling & Safety Emergency Procedure Readiness Patient Transport Minimum Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers High School diploma or GED equivalent Preferred Qualifications Previous endoscopy and/or procedural experience Physical Requirements Employee must see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication and rapid listening are required during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy, including computer use for documentation and medication preparation. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bringing supplies and equipment of varying weights up to heavy items. Must walk, assist with transporting/ambulating patients, push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, often navigating crowded rooms with power cords on the floor. May be required to stand in a stationary position wearing personal protective equipment for extended periods. Location Intermountain Health Logan Regional Hospital, Logan, Utah Schedule Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 Pay $19.50 – $26.48 per hour, dependent upon experience.
