Job Summary

Profound Treatment is seeking a dependable, structured, and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our residential detox program on a full-time basis.

The BHT plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients in early recovery. This position is responsible for client supervision, milieu management, documentation, and operational support, while collaborating with the clinical and medical teams to support client stability, engagement, and progression through treatment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a residential detox or substance use disorder treatment setting preferred

• Active registration with CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP (or in process)

• Knowledge of COWS and CIWA assessments and detox protocols preferred

• Strong understanding of recovery principles and 12-step programming

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain structure, set boundaries, and follow direction

• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete documentation accurately and timely

• Willingness to grow professionally within the behavioral health field

• Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)

• Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Core Responsibilities

Client Supervision & Milieu Management

• Provide continuous supervision of clients and maintain adherence to daily schedules and program structure

• Conduct and document client rounds/observations every 30 minutes in accordance with program policy

• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment through active engagement, redirection, and boundary setting

• Monitor client behavior and promptly report clinical, behavioral, or safety concerns to the Program Manager and clinical team

Admissions & Intake

• Complete all new client intake procedures in accordance with program policy, including:

• Urinalysis (UA) within required timeframes

• Belongings searches

• Completion of required intake documentation

• Properly document and secure contraband in accordance with program procedures

Medication Support

• Observe and document medication counts and client self-administration in KIPU in accordance with policy

• Immediately report any medication concerns to nursing staff

• Adhere strictly to medication safety protocols

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete all required documentation, including shift notes, observation logs, intake documentation, and incident reports, accurately and within required timeframes

• Ensure documentation is completed same day and within 24 hours in compliance with program standards

• Respond to documentation corrections and audit feedback promptly

Client Engagement & Recovery Support

• Encourage and support participation in clinical programming and 12-step meetings

• Promote client engagement, motivation, and retention in treatment

• Model appropriate behavior and maintain professional boundaries at all times

• Facilitate groups, as needed

Transportation

• Safely transport clients to and from appointments, meetings, and approved outings

• Maintain appropriate supervision and professional boundaries during transport

• Follow all company vehicle and safety protocols

Facility Operations

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the facility in alignment with environment of care standards

• Clean and prepare client rooms following discharge

• Support daily operational and housekeeping needs of the program

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with the Program Manager, clinical team, and nursing staff to support client care

• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate all relevant client updates
