Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift: 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed. This position requires evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while ensuring minimal supervision. The therapist will explain procedures and equipment to patients and provide necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory and aerosol equipment.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning through various methods.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and conduct pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures, including bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Document all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians and report patient responses during hand-offs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current NJ State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience with various ventilatory and aerosol devices.
• Proficient in performing arterial punctures and interpreting test results.
• Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff and patients.
