At Excelitas Technologies you are how we EXCEL.SummaryThe Senior Test Engineer will lead the development, enhancement, and long‑term support of automated test systems used to validate integrated optoelectronic laser engines. This role is primarily a software engineering position focused on LabVIEW, with responsibility for building scalable test architectures, integrating complex instrumentation, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality test coverage across development and production. The ideal candidate is a strong LabVIEW developer who enjoys solving system‑level problems, designing clean software frameworks, and working with advanced test equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect, develop, and maintain LabVIEW-based automated test applications, including modular frameworks, reusable libraries, and scalable system architectures.Integrate and control a wide range of test instrumentation such as optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs), oscilloscopes, power meters, laser drivers, TEC controllers, and other electrical/optical test equipment.Develop automated test sequences, data acquisition routines, and instrument control interfaces for characterization, validation, and production workflows.Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (firmware, mechanical, optical, manufacturing) to translate product requirements into robust test strategies and software implementations.Troubleshoot test system issues—primarily software, instrumentation control, and integration challenges.Implement structured data logging, automated analysis, and reporting pipelines to support engineering insights and manufacturing yield improvements.Maintain documentation, version control, and configuration management for test software and hardware.Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to junior and mid‑level test engineers.Drive continuous improvement in test reliability, maintainability, and throughput.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.Extensive experience developing LabVIEW applications, including medium‑ to large‑scale or multi‑module systems.Strong hands‑on experience interfacing with test instrumentation (OSAs, oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.).Solid understanding of automated test methodologies, software design patterns, and structured development practices.Ability to interpret system‑level requirements and translate them into test software architectures.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in complex test environments.Comfortable working with integrated systems that combine optics, electronics, and firmware, even if not performing deep electronics or optical debug.Preferred / Nice-to-Have SkillsExperience with SQL or other database technologies for storing, querying, and analyzing test data.Familiarity with NI TestStand or similar test executive frameworks.Experience with Python, C#, or similar languages for auxiliary automation or tooling.Exposure to manufacturing test environments, reliability testing, or system‑level characterization.Experience collaborating on automated test fixtures or working with mechanical engineering teams.Knowledge of data visualization or statistical analysis tools.Soft SkillsStrong communication and documentation abilities.Ability to lead technical discussions and influence test architecture decisions.Detail‑oriented with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and long‑term system performance.Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced engineering environment.CompensationSalary Range - $120,000 - $190,000 Depending on ExperienceThis position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Visa sponsorship is not available for any position at Excelitas Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action EmployerMinorities/Females/Disability/Veteran/Gender Identity/Sexual OrientationExcelitas is seeking leaders and innovators to join our global team!
