High School English Language Arts Teacher (26-27 SY) Starting Date: Jul 20, 2026 Reports to: Building Principal Work Hours: 8 hours/day (7:00 am–4:00 pm) Job Description Highly Effective English Language Arts Teacher. Job Qualifications Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university. Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate, or ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s). Valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to obtain one. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best instructional practices. Verification of successful classroom teaching performance and/or student teaching experience. Ability to foster positive human relationships and work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community. Ability to deliver engaging, standards‑aligned lessons across disciplines such as Social Studies/History. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Supervise students in hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor spaces. Normal 8‑hour workdays; parent‑teacher conferences, professional development, and extracurricular activities may extend hours. Engage with diverse students, manage classroom behavior, and address learning differences. Stand and walk around the classroom or school premises for extended periods. May need to lift books, teaching materials, and supplies weighing 20 lbs. or more at times. Relational Responsibilities Establish positive relationships with students. Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress. Collaborate with parents and school personnel to provide appropriate education for each student. Believe that all students can learn at high levels when given proper support and encouragement. Teaching Responsibilities Develop students’ cognitive capacity and respect for learning. Utilize a variety of effective instructional and classroom management techniques. Consider individual learning needs and schoolwide learning goals in lesson planning. Utilize district‑adopted textbooks and curriculum guides. Incorporate higher‑level thinking strategies and real‑life applications. Create instructional and assessment materials aligned with learning objectives. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, instructional skills, and resources. Use technology or media to enhance learning experiences. Collect student achievement data accurately using various tools. Implement diagnostic and progress assessments. Integrate leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum. Use data to make instructional decisions that positively impact achievement. Maintain student records related to achievement, attendance, and discipline. Provide a positive and safe learning environment. Support school goals and resolve concerns. Communicate expectations of success for all students. Administer positive classroom management. Assist with other duties in support of Meridian Preparatory Academy. Guide the learning process to help students achieve program objectives. Adapt mathematics curriculum for individual, small group, or remedial instruction as needed. Influence students’ planning of post‑secondary ventures, including career, trade, and/or college. Embrace diverse student and staff population. Maintain communication with parents, guardians, and staff. Engage in professional growth activities to increase knowledge and skill. Collaborate to achieve the school’s instructional program and overall goals.
