Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ED Hold/PCU float position requiring PCU experience, team nursing comfort, and Cerner proficiency.

Details

• Work in an ED Hold unit that boards stable Medical-Surgical and PCU-type patients transferred from the ED until discharge or transfer to an inpatient unit
• Unit is a 4-bed area that can expand to 8-10 beds depending on patient acuity and staffing needs
• Staffing ratios of 1:5-6, with team nursing involving RN, LPN, and CNA roles depending on acuity
• Float position requiring floating to an inpatient PCU unit when no patients are on the ED Hold unit, as well as floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Indiana or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior PCU experience required
• Comfortable working in a team nursing model with RN/LPN delegation
• Must have completed 3-4 prior travel assignments
• Cerner charting experience required
• University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to boarded ED patients with Medical-Surgical and PCU-level acuity
• Comfortable managing fluctuating patient ratios and team nursing delegation with LPNs and CNAs
• Floating is required for all travelers, either within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
• Any prior permanent or PRN employee of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must complete a designated break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents or 180 days for in-state residents
