- Inspect and Diagnose: Check engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems using specialized diagnostic tools.
- Repair Trucks: Fix or replace worn parts on semi-trucks, including diesel engines, exhaust systems, and steering components.
- Service Trailers: Repair trailer frames, landing gear, air brake lines, and lighting systems.
- Maintain Cranes: Inspect and repair crane hydraulics, boom cables, outriggers, and electronic control systems.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine oil changes, fluid checks, and safety inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Keep Records: Document all completed repairs, parts used, and inspection results accurately.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience working on heavy-duty trucks and diesel engines.
- Hydraulic Knowledge: Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and crane operations.
- Tools: Must own a standard set of mechanic hand tools (specialty tools provided by the shop).
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license (a Commercial Driver's License or CDL is strongly preferred).
- Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications or crane inspection certifications are a plus.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy parts, climb on equipment, and work in various weather conditions.
