Court Researcher -Suffolk County, NY

Criminal Court Researcher – Suffolk County, NY Location: Suffolk County Courthouse (Riverhead, NY). Must live within a 30‑minute commute of the courthouse and possess a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities Travel to assigned courthouses to research and review criminal and/or civil public record information using onsite electronic access court systems and additional applicable websites. Interpret court records and related information from courts and state agencies, accurately documenting, editing, and modifying results from searches in court repositories, agency databases, and other state repositories. Provide detailed results and case information obtained from court repositories to the CRRG via database integration or email. Conduct criminal background checks using various electronic public access systems at criminal courthouses. Utilize public access criminal court record information (via phone, fax, web, Wi‑Fi) to conduct criminal history searches. Verify information for criminal records and forward results by scanning and uploading search results. Investigate and provide updates on new or improved methods of performing criminal background checks. Maintain a temporary gas stipend of $200 per jurisdiction monthly. Requirements Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to the courthouse(s) daily. Must reside within a 30‑minute commute to the courthouse(s). Reliable Wi‑Fi access at home and a document shredder. High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read legal documentation and high‑level administrative experience; legal court research experience and/or professional work experience preferred. Excellent time‑management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines with extreme accuracy and detail orientation. Strong organizational, research, interpersonal, and communication skills. Capability to work independently while taking direction well. Compensation The salary for this position is approximately $18–19 USD per hour.
