Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, Communications, located in Washington, DC. Responsibilities In this role, you will serve as a Strategic Communications Specialist, providing leadership with guidance and support in writing and developing communication materials to ensure effective coordination and communication across the office. You will work closely with the Communications Director to develop and produce internal communication plans and tools to improve the OFO operations and objectives through improved communication process. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing plans, policies, and consulting with management concerning policies and solutions that tie communication processes with results. Identifying, recommending, and demonstrating effective methods for managers/supervisors to use in improving communications for day-to-day operations. Planning, researching, writing, and editing internal and external publications; presenting activities or policies to specialized groups, individual representatives, or the general public. Assisting with the development of new informational materials aimed at enhancing the understanding of significant programs, initiatives, and policies among internal and external parties. Planning and carrying out projects and assignments, including identifying problems and coordinating with others to resolve issues.
