Quality Manager

Barnes Aerospace East Granby, CRO is seeking a hands‑on, progressive leader to join it team as Quality Manager . As a key member of the site leadership team, the right candidate should have a proven track record of providing leadership and expertise in developing and implementing a comprehensive quality program to support complex overhaul and repair processes as well as New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. As Quality Manager, you will focus on building, expanding and sustaining a culture of quality to drive toward zero‑defects, no‑conformance and escapes. This candidate should have a proven track record of driving performance and results through effective leadership of people‑grounded in core values with a demonstrated ability to cultivate a high performance, collaborative and engaged team that wants to “win”. Core Responsibilities Ensure the site’s and vendor’s quality management system consistently meet / exceed customer requirements, regulatory compliance, AS 9100 structure, special processes (NADCAP) and other industry appropriate requirements. Submit reports of defects on non-airworthy condition in accordance with CFR 145.221. Manage un-repairable parts program and support non-conforming material process. Promptly address quality issues when needed and ensure quick and effective root cause analysis & actions to minimize impact to customers and to prevent recurrence. Maintain strong communication with customers, internal management team, and vendors to ensure quality level is meeting expectations. Facilitate, management and support employee training program, including the maintenance and accountability of training records. Assist Engineering in setting work processes to ensure ‘built in quality’ and ‘inspecting quality in’ steps are optimized. Monitor and analyze process / product outputs, identify systemic problem / opportunity areas, provide data to the divisional team(s), and work with team members to drive process improvement to work toward zero-defect quality performance. Increase quality skill bench strength: educate, coach and mentor in inspection methods, auditing, root cause corrective action and 6 Sigma philosophy, methodology and tools. Manage divisional cost of quality and optimize return on investment. Manage performance of direct reports, including both salaried and hourly workforce. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years proven managerial experience; aerospace preferred. Proven team leadership skills with ability to effectively influence and motivate others. Working knowledge of AS9100 and prior administration of Quality Management System. Substantial functional experience with successful track record of results. Strong customer-focused, quantitative, analytical, and project management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse customers and team members. Previous experience in customer relations and resolving issues in a timely and effective manner. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent required; Black Belt certification preferred. Education Requirements BS or BA degree in engineering or other technical field. Master’s degree related field or MBA preferred.
