Pediatric Dental Assistant

SMPD IS LOOKING FOR A DENTAL ASSISTANT: Join our team of caring, compassionate professionals. Here at SMPD we strive for excellence with patient care and customer service. This position is a full-time position, Monday-Thursday 7:30am- 5pm and once a month Fridays. Education Requirement: High School Diploma Licensure & Training: CDA preferred, on the job training permissible Radiology Certification: DANB CPR Certification: CPR Categories: Chairside assistant/ Floating Assistant Specific Duties for Assistant: Assist the doctors with all aspects of preventative, restorative, sedation dentistry. Clean/disinfect rooms between patients and at the end of the day. Tell-Show-Do with all patients. Communicate effectively and appropriately with children and their families. Review/updated medical history to ensure completeness. Maintain operatory/sterilization area/lab. Take and develop radiographs. Take, pour, and trim models. Assistants will be permitted to perform other duties in accordance with the rules set forth by the Maine State Board of Dental Examiners. This person should be self-motivated, hard-working, and excited about working with children in the pediatric setting. Pediatric dentistry is what develops a child’s dental foundation. Come join us and help make a difference in someone’s life! Duties: Assist the dentist during dental procedures. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment. Take and develop dental x-rays and other medical imaging. Maintain patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic or Eaglesoft. Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures. Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care. Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Experience: Previous experience in dental assisting preferred. Knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology. Familiarity with dental software systems such as Epic, CAD, or Eaglesoft.
