Role highlights

• Operate a mobile repair vehicle to deliver routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers and related equipment.
• Use hand/power tools and precision devices (including calipers) to perform quality work.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and company-required inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; follow repair manuals and checklists.
• Install/reinstall components, verify operation through basic functional testing, and maintain power equipment.
• Request parts with prior approval; complete accurate service documentation.
• Pitch in with other maintenance staff as needed; help keep the shop clean (sweeping and trash removal).
• Maintain an organized, safe work area and follow all health and safety guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & licensing

• Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR per company Driver Fleet Policy.
• Insurable under Dallas Trailer Repair Co.’s insurance carrier requirements (driving record and age minimum/maximum).
• 1–2 years of mechanical experience (or comparable background).
• ASE certifications preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and write in English to follow laws/signage and to document diagnostics and solutions.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and basic math ability.
• Personal toolbox and PPE: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.
• Required (verbatim): Must pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test, background check (10-year), and drug/medical physical exam.

Physical demands

• Lift/carry up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly.
• Regular standing, walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.
• Frequent hand/finger use for grasping, typing, and tool operation.
• Able to talk, hear, and see clearly for safe, detailed work.

Where you’ll work

Shop setting with indoor/outdoor tasks. Expect:

• Hot/cold temperature changes; non-climate-controlled areas
• Dirt, dust, soot, fumes, and other particulates
• Moving machinery and electrical equipment
• Chemicals with limited ventilation
• High or confined spaces and loud noise

PPE and compliance with safety protocols are mandatory.
