About the Position Please Note: Review of applications will begin on May 13,2026. The Office of Student Outreach provides comprehensive services toprospective students, current students, staff, faculty, and membersof the community-at-large seeking University information orservices concerning outreach, pre-admission advising, transfercredit evaluation and financial aid. This position conducts a fullrange of enrollment services activities. Under the generalsupervision of the Director of Student Outreach, this positionspecializes in generating, cultivating, advising, converting, andyielding prospective students within a defined market territory aswell as supporting efforts to meet the University's overall newstudent enrollment goals. Responsibilities include (but are not confined to) the following:under the guidance and leadership of an outreach counselor, conducton- and off-campus pre-admission advising appointments regionallyand out-of-area as needed; participate in on- and off-campusevents; conduct advising and promotional visits to high schools andcommunity colleges with corresponding reports of prospectgeneration and conversion from prospect to applicant, acceptanceand enrollment from said schools; represent all University programs(both academic and co-curricular) through presentations andworkshops; track student interactions; represent the University atcollege fairs/evening programs; conduct informational presentationson CSUEB, the CSU system, admissions, and financial aid; providefollow-up written, electronic and telephone communication toprospective students; build and sustain positive relationships withprospective students, their families, and high school &community college specialists. Responsibilities Under the oversight of the Outreach Director and outreachcounselors, work to generate, cultivate, convert, and yield newstudent inquiries from within a defined market by providingoutreach and recruitment services In conjunction with outreach Counselors, assist with theoversight of territories and conduct recruitment travel to highschools and community colleges statewide and represent theUniversity at college fairs, counselor conferences, at otherevents, and in professional organizations Deliver presentations, college fairs, workshops and othereducational services from campus partners/departments (i.e. SEAS,EOP, academic programs, etc.) designed to encourage and facilitatecollege admissions and enrollment. Input information into Salesforce on all student interactionsincluding phone calls, in person and online appointments, emails,and all other contact. Extract and review lists of students forproactive outreach during the recruitment cycle. Develop and sustain relationships with high schools andcommunity colleges by being conversant in the University's academicand extracurricular opportunities, being data informed, andprojecting a positive professional demeanor and appearance. Serveas a resource for students, schools, and community-basedorganizations and conduct ongoing communication (direct mail;electronic, telephone) with prospects, applicants, and admittedstudents. In conjunction with outreach counselors, occasional visits willbe made to select territories in Southern California, including butnot limited to the regions of Pasadena, San Bernardino, Ontario,Riverside (Inland Empire), Los Angeles, Orange and San Diegocounties Provide accurate, ethical, and up to date pre-admission andinitial financial aid advising Exhibit cultural competency as well as sensitivity to thosefrom diverse economic backgrounds Maintain familiarity with, and effectively communicate CSUEBmarketing messages and craft communications conforming to theUniversity's message platform, Enrollment Services communicationplans, and in keeping with the University communication styleguide Regularly reference, retain, recall, and apply CSU and CSUEBrecruitment & admissions policies & procedures Advise students and their family members on CSU admissionrequirements and eligibility, CSUEB's impaction --as appropriate,as well as general financial aid information by way ofinformational presentations on CSUEB, the CSU system, admissions,and financial aid Provide institutions with needed/requested information asappropriate Follow through in a timely manner on all requests forinformation/assistance Serve as a liaison between prospective students andadmissions/financial aid personnel to ensure accurate and timelyevaluation and communication Assist with Welcome Center duties as needed including providingcoverage when needed, information sessions for campus visitors, andpre-admission appointments hosted in the center Provide virtual counseling to prospective students, applicants,and admitted students at various points in the enrollmentfunnel Crosstrain on fulfillment center duties, serving as back up inabsence of fulfillment center coordinator Provide general information and service for all EnrollmentManagement functions Respond to electronic and telephone inquiries in a timelyfashion (e.g. 24 hours) and deliver service in the areas ofpre-admission/recruitment, admissions, records and registration,graduation evaluation, and financial aid Provide information to prospective and current students neededto successfully academically meet admissions requirements, completethe admission & financial aid application processes, orprogress as a CSUEB student Provide transcript evaluation service to prospective studentsto inform students of requirements for admission. Assist the Office of Admissions with coordinated transcriptevaluation service Regularly and accurately reference and apply EM policies andprocedures When answering calls or responding to electronic inquiries todeliver exceptional & courteous service, transferring callersor forwarding emails to other EM specialists only when absolutelynecessary Actively problem-solve and employ appropriate independentjudgment in dealing with those inquiring Know, embrace, and effectively communicate the CSUEB marketingplatform Communicate the benefits of a CSUEB education Participate in ongoing comprehensive cross-training effortswithin the EM Participate in the development of work teams within EM Special projects or unanticipated needs may result in otherduties being assigned Staff and complete tasks at on-campus events at the directionof the event coordinator Minimum Qualifications Experience: Equivalent of one (1) year of experience in professionalStudent Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job-related education maybe substituted for the required experience. Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or universityin one of the behavioral sciences, public or businessadministration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicanthas acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilitiesshown above may be substituted for the required education on ayear-for-year basis. Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organizationand program management. Research and interviewing techniques. Principles of individual and group behavior. The ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge of theorganization, procedures and activities of the specific campus towhich the position is assigned. Knowledge of basic principles, practices and major trends inthe Student Services field to which assigned. Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the specificobjectives of the campus Student Services program and itsrelationship to the total campus operation. Ability to interpret and apply program rules andregulations. Gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw validconclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Present clear and concise information orally and in writtenreports. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships withfaculty, CSU administrators, student organizations and otherprivate and public agencies. Preferred Skills and Knowledge Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year collegeor university 1 year of experience in a college/university setting inoutreach and recruiting preferred. Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in presenting tolarge groups, providing information on admissions, financial aid,CSUEB, and the CSU Ability to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge about CSUEBand CSU/CSUEB enrollment requirements, policies, and procedures, aswell as general knowledge about financial aid processes andprocedures Ability to promote constructive dialog, and demonstratedeffectiveness as a sympathetic listener Ability to interact professionally and effectively,individually or in group settings, with prospective students andtheir family members, school/college Specialists, andcolleagues Ability and willingness to work with diverse populations Ability to identify and analyze organizational and operatingproblems and implement appropriate responses.
