Registered Nurse – High Intensity Care Unit (HICU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 or 48 hour weekly contract options available | Every other weekend required | Must work every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in a High Intensity Care Unit (HICU) setting, including those requiring ventilator support, pulmonary care, and acute rehabilitation
• Monitor and manage patients with acute brain injuries, complex cardiac conditions, and chronic or complex medical conditions requiring extended care
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver 24/7 respiratory care, diagnostics, medical treatment, and rehabilitation services
• Care for adult patients (18 years and older) in a unit accommodating up to 40 patients across 20 semi-private rooms
• Float within the hospital as needed, within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in an ICU or HICU setting
• Active ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Valid Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Must be able to attend all orientation days (Tuesday–Friday, day shift)
• Professional references required
• Strict adherence to facility time and attendance policies required; zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients requiring ventilator management or pulmonary care
• Background working with patients transitioning from acute ICU settings to extended multidisciplinary care environments
• Familiarity with acute rehabilitation nursing care
