In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting monthly close activities, managing payroll and benefits accounting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, collaborating across teams, and making a meaningful impact on the organization's financial operations.  What You'll DoFinancial Close & General AccountingPartner with the Accounting team to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities accurately and on schedule.Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.Prepare supporting schedules, analyses, and documentation for internal and external audits.Execute assigned Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and support a strong internal control environment.  Payroll & Benefits AccountingManage accounting activities for weekly and biweekly U.S. payroll cycles, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and SOX control requirements.Support accounting and reconciliation activities related to employee benefit plans, including medical, 401(k), FSA, and other benefit programs.Ensure payroll and benefits-related transactions are accounted for accurately and documented in accordance with company policies. Tax & Compliance SupportPrepare, file, and remit multi-state sales and use tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.Support Avalara tax compliance activities, including exemption certificate management, reporting, system administration, and issue resolution.Research and resolve tax, reconciliation, and accounting questions in partnership with internal stakeholders.Process Improvement & Cross-Functional CollaborationIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.Collaborate with teams across the organization to resolve accounting issues and support business initiatives.Assist with business continuity planning, process documentation, and special projects as needed. What Will Help You SucceedWe're looking for someone who brings strong technical accounting knowledge along with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.You Thrive When You:Act with integrity and earn the trust of colleagues and business partners.Enjoy analyzing complex issues and finding practical solutions.Take ownership of your work and consistently deliver high-quality results.Build strong relationships and work effectively with people across different teams.Make sound decisions using data, experience, and professional judgment.Look for opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.Stay organized and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.  QualificationsRequiredBachelor 's degree in Accounting or Finance.5+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience.5+ years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience.Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, including Texas and Louisiana.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.PreferredExperience with Avalara tax compliance software.Experience with ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and/or Dynamics 365.Experience with OneStream or similar reconciliation and close management tools.Experience researching and applying accounting regulations and guidance.Demonstrated success identifying and implementing process improvements. Why You'll Enjoy This RoleOpportunity to make a direct impact on key accounting and financial processes.Exposure to a broad range of accounting functions, including payroll, benefits, tax, and financial reporting.Collaborative environment with opportunities to partner across the business.Ability to contribute ideas that improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
